Harness Sizing

A harness that's the wrong size either rubs or slips off — worth getting right, especially for a dog who's already unsteady.

How to measure

  • Chest girth: wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
  • Neck: measure around the base of the neck, where a collar normally sits.
  • Weight: a current weight helps cross-check against the size chart — senior dogs often carry less muscle than the chart's breed-standard weight assumes.

Fit check once it's on

  • You should be able to fit two flat fingers under any strap.
  • The chest strap shouldn't crowd the front legs when walking.
  • If you're using the lift handle, check it sits centred over the shoulders before you rely on it for support.

Exact size charts are on each product page, since they vary by style. Between two sizes, and your dog is stiff, arthritic, or unsteady on their legs, size up rather than down.
